Microsoft Teams for Linux Officially Released, Available to Download Now – Softpedia News

After two more months of waiting, Linux users can now finally download Microsoft Teams and install it on their Debian- or Red Hat-based GNU/Linux distributions.
Earlier this fall, Microsoft confirmed that it is working on a Linux version of his Microsoft Teams software, a unified communications platform where teams can collaborate more easily by sharing a workspace where they can chat, share files, and work with business apps.
Microsoft Teams was already supported on some of the most popular desktop and mobile platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, and as of today it's also available on Linux. Those interested in installing Microsoft Teams can download the 64-bit binary packages as .DEB or .RPM right now from the official website.
"Most of our customers have devices running on a variety of different platforms such as Windows 10, Linux and others. We are committed to supporting mixed environments across our cloud and productivity offerings, and with this announcement, we are pleased to extend the Teams experience to Linux users," reads today's announcement.
According to Microsoft, this is a public preview of Microsoft Teams for Linux, which means that some features may not be available or work correctly. However, the company encourages the Linux community to download and install Microsoft Teams for Linux on their Debian or Red Hat-based distributions and submit feedback based on their experience with the software so they can improve it in future releases.
Microsoft promises that Microsoft Teams for Linux will support all of the application's core capabilities. Microsoft Teams is the app from the Microsoft 365 suite to be available for GNU/Linux distributions, but we believe the tech giant will port more of its popular apps to the Linux platform, striating with the upcoming Chromium-based Microsoft Edge web browser, which Microsoft said it will come to Linux in 2020.
