Microsoft is finally bringing its popular diagramming and graphic application Visio to iOS and the web.
Visio was first brought to market in the early 1990s by a company called Shapeware, with the company changing its name to match the software in 1995. Visio was bought by Microsoft for $1.5 billion in stock in 2000, representing one of Microsoft’s top 5 acquisitions of all time in terms of valuation.
Almost 17 years on, Visio is still going strong as part of the Microsoft Office suite of apps on Windows.
Now, those on iPads and the web can also get in on the action, though the respective apps are only available for viewing and sharing diagrams — they can’t be used for creating diagrams.

Given that Visio is now available in the browser, this does open it up to pretty much any device, including Android, but it’s only compatible with Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 9 or above, Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. So most of the popular browsers, in other words.
You can also store your diagrams in OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online, and share them with anyone else with a dedicated link that opens in the aforementioned browsers.
The company says that a native iPhone app will be arriving in the “coming months” too.
